In August and December 2023, I had the wonderful opportunity to perform the role of Mama Bear in Jonathon Stinson’s Children’s Opera, The Three Bears with colleagues at Sanford Opera of Sanford Maine. This delightful opera was sung to a digitized storyboard that children and adults a like could follow along with as we performed. I also had the privilege of helping out with costumes on this project by creating the hats worn by the 4 singers.

During my time at the University of Mississippi in 2022, I had the privilege of co-writing an inventive and collaborative program that we titled “Music in Motion”. Together with my colleagues, we created a meditative and contemplative experience centered around music and yoga. Each of us performed one song that was important to us while also leading the audience in various forms of movement. I sang Che faro senza Euridice from Christoph Gluck’s “Orfeo ed Euridice”,

an aria and role that I have been passionate about for many years. We also had the privilege of performing the program for the UM’s Department of Music for our dress rehearsal, and then gave 3 outdoor performances throughout Oxford, MS including The Farmer’s Market, Goose Creek Tennis Club and in The Grove on the campus of UM for Mississippi Day. The audience was invited to participate with us in the movement. It was an emotional and interactive experience for all!

Rebecca Goff, mezzo-soprano Amanda Johnston, piano University of Mississippi, Department of Music Nutt Auditorium March 9, 2022

During COVID-19 and my first semester as a graduate student in the Master of Music Vocal Pedagogy Program at the University of Southern Maine, I become interested in female composer, Lousie Talma’s work. This song One need not be a chamber to be haunted is a poem by Emily Dickinson that was set to music by Louise Talma. As we were in COVID-19 shut down at the time, all jury selections were recorded to tracks and submitted via video.
